About the EFCA

Manchester Creek is an Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) congregation. The "Free Church" is a relatively small denomination of about 1,500 churches nationwide that is largely centered in the midwest.

It has roots in the German pietistic movement that swept through the Scandanavian countries about 200 years after the Reformation. Later, large groups of Norwegians and Swedes immigrated to the United States and Canada and started "Free Churches". Free meant, "free from a state-appointed pastor". Eventually, those Free churches associated together and became The Evangelical Free Church of America.

Today the Free Church is a vibrant community of interdependent but autonomous congregations committed to expanding the Kingdom of God through church planting and developing healthy churches worldwide.
