One-to-One Discipleship

Discipleship --- Learning to Obey all that He Commanded

One-to-One

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded."
(Jesus in Matthew 28:18-19)

It's not a program but a lifestyle. At Manchester Creek everything is connected to one-to-one discipleship. It is our primary means of spiritual formation.

One-to-one Discipleship is man on man or woman on woman, meeting together to be iron sharpening iron and grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.

Do You Use a Particular Curriculum?

Yes. But the curriculum doesn't matter. In fact, our motto is the "the material is immaterial" it is the process of life on life and the commitment to teach others also that we are aiming at in One-to-one Discipleship.

How Long Does it Take?

In reality, a lifetime. But the process that we use is 6-7 weeks to establish people in the basics of the Christian life and 13-14 weeks of content to equip them to multiply into the lives of others. Generally, men finish the material in about 16-18 weeks and women in about 14-16 weeks.

How Do I Get Started?

Tell us on your connection card on Sunday morning and we will get you in the pipeline. It's that simple.

Home-Groups

"And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching, to the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers"
(Acts. 2:42)

Home-group fellowships are another aspect of our overall discipleship approach. Jesus said to go into all the world and make disciples. We take that as the primary task of the church. Home-groups provide the practical opportunities we need to do the "one-anothers" of Scripture and demonstrate the love of Christ.

How Do I Get Connected and Get to Know People at Manchester Creek?

Join a Home-Group.

Do Home-Groups Meet Weekly?

Generally, yes, but there are exceptions.

Can I Bring My Children?

In some, yes, others no.

What If I Don't Like My Home-Group?

Impossible. All our Home-Groups are led by perfect people who never irritate anyone and groups members are equally loving and kind.

Seriously, if a Home-Group doesn't work for you (bad start time, a bad day of the week, not children compatible, not studying what you need, etc.) then you are free to try a new one.

Missions

"Mission is not ultimate. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man."
(Let the Nations Be Glad, John Piper)

But because worship is the goal for the nations, missions are a temporary but urgent necessity. We delight to take the gospel to the nations of the earth that the nations will find their gladness and peace in the good news of the Risen King.

At Manchester Creek our delight is to send, support and raise up missionaries to take the gospel to our community and the nations.
